Local SEO for Las Vegas small businesses: a practical checklist

How to show up in Google Maps and local search results in Las Vegas and Henderson. A step-by-step local SEO checklist for small businesses.

When someone nearby searches "plumber near me" or "Henderson dentist," Google shows a map with three businesses before any regular results. Getting into that map pack is the single highest-value thing most local businesses can do online. Here's the checklist we use.

1. Google Business Profile

This matters more than anything else on this list.

  • Claim and verify your profile at business.google.com.
  • Pick the most specific primary category ("Emergency Veterinarian", not just "Veterinarian"). Add secondary categories for other services.
  • Fill in everything: hours, service areas, services with descriptions, products, attributes.
  • Add real photos of your team, your work and your location, and keep adding new ones monthly.
  • Post updates such as offers, news and recent projects. It signals the business is active.

2. Reviews

Reviews affect both your ranking and whether people choose you.

  • Ask every happy customer. The best time is right after a job goes well.
  • Send a direct review link by text or email to make it a one-tap task.
  • Reply to every review, good and bad, politely and quickly.

3. Consistent business details (NAP)

Your Name, Address and Phone number should be identical everywhere: your website, Google, Yelp, Facebook, Apple Maps, Bing and industry directories. Mismatches confuse Google and cost you rankings.

4. Your website

  • One page per service. A page about "water heater repair" ranks for water heater repair far better than a single "Services" page listing ten things.
  • Mention where you work, naturally. Las Vegas, Henderson, Summerlin, North Las Vegas: whichever areas you actually serve.
  • Put your address and phone in the footer of every page.
  • Add business schema, a bit of code that tells Google your business details directly.
  • Make it fast and mobile-friendly. Most local searches happen on phones.

5. Local links and mentions

Links from other local websites tell Google you're part of the community:

  • Chamber of Commerce membership (Henderson and Las Vegas chambers both list members)
  • Sponsoring local events, teams or charities
  • Local news, blogs and podcasts
  • Suppliers and partners linking to you

6. Track it

Use Google Search Console to see which searches you appear for, and the Performance section of your Business Profile to see calls, direction requests and website clicks. Check monthly, not daily. Local SEO builds over months.
